Important Things To Consider When You Are Planning A Rooftop Wedding

Posted on

You may have decided that you want your wedding to be held somewhere unique and different. While there are plenty of places around your city that might provide the right type of uniqueness you are looking for, you may have decided on holding your wedding at a rooftop venue. This can be a fantastic choice with beautiful views that will help to make your day memorable.

There are a few things you need to consider before booking your rooftop wedding venue. Here are just a few things to think about.

The Roof Is Accessible To Everyone

When you are looking for the right rooftop wedding venue, you need to ensure that the roof is accessible to everyone you want to come off your guest list. Narrow down your list of venues and check to see if there is any elevator access, which is ideal. If not, try to ensure that there aren't too many stairs that your guests have to climb to reach the roof.

If your rooftop venue has too many stairs, it could prevent your older guests or those with mobility issues from attending. If possible, try to only have one or two flights of stairs they must climb. If you do have some guests that will have some trouble climbing those stairs, have someone there to help them.

Make Sure There Is Electricity To The Roof

One thing you must remember when checking out a rooftop wedding venue is to find out if the roof has any electricity for your lighting, your caterers to cook or keep food warm with, and for your DJ or band to plug their instruments and equipment into.

Most venues who offer rooftop wedding venues do offer electricity to the roof, but it is a good idea to ask anyway. You should also ask if they supply generators and if that cost is extra when booking the venue.

Prepare For Any Type Of Weather

When you are looking for a rooftop wedding venue, keep in mind that you should be prepared for any type of weather that may happen on the day. For example, if it's going to be hot and sunny, you might want to put up gauzy curtains around the ceremony and reception area to protect yourself and your guests from the sun. There won't be much shade on the roof, and perhaps you want to set up some open-sided tents so guests can take a break from the heat for a while.

It's also possible you will have to deal with either rain or wind gusts too. In this event, ensure that those tents you have for sunny days have sides that can be lowered to protect against the rain. Also, have an alternative indoor venue you can go to if need be. This is especially true if there are high winds that day.

If you keep your wedding on the roof during higher winds, then try to anchor your decorations as firmly as you can. You will also need to ensure your tents or shades can withstand the wind gusts too.
